About the Walk Leader: Gaurav Sharma is a Guest faculty at National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) Delhi. Gaurav has been lifelong Dilliwala and grew up amidst multilayered culture of Delhi. He has a honors degree in History from Dayal Singh College, University of Delhi and subsequently he enhanced His passion by completing "INDIA: Art & Culture" certificate from National Museum Institute. He had a short stint at Khalsa College, St. Stephens College and Department of History at Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Delhi. His long experience of researching on Historical personalities lent him enough credentials to narrate historical events in well researched, factual and storytelling manner. Till date his heritage walks have been covered by Hindustan Times, BBC Hindi, Sandhya Times, Punjab Kesari, The Hindu, NDTV, Scroll.in, HT Brunch Magazine, Condé Nast Traveler Magazine and French travel magazine.

About the Walk: The National Museum is filled with treasures from various parts of the world including some of the most beautiful Buddhist Art and Central Asian antiquities. We will explore the various representations of Buddha, the relics and art. Being a crucial central part of Asia, frequent movements of people from different regions, faith and culture resulted in the emergence of composite cultural tradition. Hence, we could see elements of Hellenistic, Sassanian, Uigurian, Chinese, Tibetan, and Indian in the Central Asian Art. The collection of Central Asian Antiquities with more than twelve thousand artefacts are from Xinjiang region of Chinese Turkistan which was discovered by Sir Aural Stein during his three expeditions in 1900-1901, 1906-1908, and 1913-1916 C.E. Many artefacts excavated and discovered from the oasis along the ancient trade route popularly known as Southern and Northern Silk Roads. These antiquities are ranging roughly from 3rd to the 12th century.
